Route to Quinta do Covelo

From the Spanish/Portugean border near Vilar Formoso, it's about a two-hour drive to Quinta do Covelo. At Guarda follow the IP5 in the direction Aveiro / Celorico, next the N17 in the direction Coimbra / Oliveira do Hospital. When you have passed the village Chamusca da Beira follow the signs 'Hotel St. Paulo' and turn right after approx. 2 miles. At the roundabout go straight on, at the traffic light turn right and immediately left. Next, take the first road on the right and after approx. 1 mile turn right at the roundabout (casa Espiritos) direction Travanca de Lagos. On your right hand you'll see a triangular plaza,immediately followed by "casa de povo”. Take the road opposite of it (left: Rua do Covelo) After rougly 200 yards the asphalt road ends and turns into a dirt road. At the three-way split keep left. Keep following this road (appox. 500 yards) untill you'll spot the sign with our quinta on it. Turn left and enter the 'white path' uphill. You should now be able to spot our quinta. In case of any difficulties finding Quinta do Covelo, don't fret to ask the locals (“onde è a quinta do Covelo da senhoras Holandeses Antonia e Maria“), they will be happy to help you.
