In the near surroundings there are plenty of activities in which to partake in:
* Walking in the Serra de Estrala
* Horse Riding
* Canoeing and swimming
* Golf
* Various markets

The cities Coimbra and Viseu (about an hour away) are as beautiful as cosy and is certainly worth a visit. A little further away are Porto (A 2 hour drive) and Lissabon (A 3 hour drive). Personally we love Praia de Mira (roughly an hour and a half away). A beautiful wide beach without mass-tourism. But Aveiro at the lagoon coast is also beautiful. A nice combination of beach and city visit. The Parque National do Buçaco is definitely worth a visit.
